Meet Mr. Weaver
I was born and raised in Macon, Georgia and I have one brother, Scott, who is a chef in Atlanta. I started playing the trumpet when I was in fourth grade, and I knew that I wanted to be a music teacher when I was in middle school. In high school, I participated in church orchestras, Honor Bands and All-State Band. I was also fortunate enough to be selected into the Atlanta Olympic Band where I had the opportunity to perform for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1996 Olympics as well as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
I went to Georgia College and State University for my undergraduate degree, and I majored in music education. In college, I performed with the concert band, jazz band, pep band, brass quintet, jazz combo, and show choir. I had the opportunity to study abroad in the Czech Republic, and I performed with the school's jazz band and combo in the Czech Republic and Poland. During this time, I worked with several local marching bands, and I performed in the pit orchestra for numerous musicals at GCSU, Theater Macon, and Gordon College.
After graduation, I began teaching at Lamar County Primary School in Barnesville, Georgia where I taught general music to kindergarten through second grade students. Although I studied to be a band director, I found that I enjoyed teaching young children the joys of music. After several years, I began teaching third through fifth grade students at Lamar County Elementary School. At the elementary school, I had my first opportunity to teach chorus, and I realized that chorus was my favorite group to teach. During this time, I also taught ukulele, guitar, and piano lessons at Wesley Music, and I continued to play in musicals throughout the state.
In 2016, I moved to Warner Robins to teach general music and chorus at David A. Perdue Elementary School. In 2017, I was voted vice president of the elementary school teachers in Houston County, and I was president for the 2018-2019 school year. I am currently the president for the 2019-2020 school year, and I began my masters in music education at Georgia College in the summer of 2019. I also began teaching ukulele, guitar, and piano lessons at The Rhythm Factory in Warner Robins during the summer of 2018.
